We are committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement.The EHS Specialist will assist the EHS Manager in overseeing all facets of health and safety for facility personnel by administering established health and safety initiatives. Promptly acting on unsafe situations.Immediately report potential food safety or product quality issues to the management staff or shift supervisor.At least 70% of time is spent in the production environment supporting a variety of EHS activities which can including:Managing employee's safety concernsWorkplace InspectionsRisk Assessments – New and UpdatingSafety Walks with different teams and Plant LeadershipContractor InspectionsProgrammed Safety Focused AuditsManagement of Change (Machines, work areas, etc.)Updating safety communications and contractor safety boardsPerform weekly inspections of Hazardous Waste Storage AreasPerform Stormwater InspectionsSign Waste ManifestsPerform environmental/DOT trainingPrepare and submit required reports monthly/quarterly/semiannual/annually.Chemical approval review for safety and environmental impactsGather/record environmental data (Monthly air emissions, Oxidizer readings, etc.)Periodic review of government websites for regulation changesThe balance of time is used for administrative tasks such as:Leads Safety TeamEnsuring local authorities, regulations, rules and codes, programs and policies related to safety are observed. Including interfacing with authorities when required and ensuring accurate record keeping and reporting.Participating in corporate safety audits and follow up.Ensuring accident/injury investigations are completed, causes of incidents are identified and preventive action steps are completed.Coordinating with Human Resources to ensure that all required safety training is developed, scheduled, conducted and managed according to an established timeline.Support development of plant and individual safety goals and gathering safety metric dataEducation / Professional BackgroundBachelor's degree in Safety or Environmental or other related field preferred.1-2 years of related experience is preferredWhat We Have To OfferOpportunity to be part of a dynamic and highly motivating work environment where you can develop your potential and launch an exciting careerDevelopment opportunities where your input makes a difference.
