Job Overview

Senior Environmental, Health & Safety Manager responsible for managing all environmental, health, and safety activities across the facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a continuous improvement safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental, health, and safety activities through strong leadership, training, communication, and motivation.
  • Guide the development and implementation of Health & Safety policies and programs.
  • Coordinate and provide safety training for all employees in Safety, Fire Prevention, and Loss Control.
  • Work with Operations and Human Resources to investigate and maintain records for all work‑related injuries and illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist management with effective health and safety countermeasures.
  • Oversee and administer the Workers Compensation Program, implementing plans to minimize injuries and associated costs.
  • Ensure legislative compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADA, RCRA, DOT, Fire Codes, and liaise with area OSHA representatives.
  • Serve as co‑chair on the Joint Health and Safety Committee, coordinating activities and recommendations.
  • Conduct routine workplace safety inspections, establish measurable standards, and follow‑up on recommendations.
  • Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures, training, and practice drills.
  • Environmental responsibilities:
    • Air: Coordinate Title V Air Permits.
    • Land: Oversee spill management, outside storage, and landfill disposal.
    • Water: Ensure sanitary sewer discharges comply with state and federal regulations.
    • Hazardous waste: Coordinate and manage hazardous waste program; manage recycling of scrap.
  • Direct services of contracted personnel.
  • Partner with management team on EH&S issues.
  • Keep HR Manager, Plant Manager, and Director of EH&S updated on environmental, health, and safety matters.
  • Promote and review safety, quality, productivity programs.
  • Perform workplace inspections, monitor compliance with Health & Safety, ISO14001, and corporate policies.
  • Lead safety talks, staff meetings, tailgate meetings, accident investigation program, new employee training, correct unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Establish safety goals, review statistics, lead management safety committee.
  • Serve as ISO 14001 and corporate Health & Safety Policies Management Representative.
  • Ensure environmental compliance of all facility team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of Health, Safety, and Environmental experience, preferably in a manufacturing (molding/assembly/painting) facility.
  • Demonstrated analytical/problem‑solving, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Ergonomics, ISO 14001, SDS, and environmental issues; ability to assess compliance and environmental impact.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ADA, RCRA, DOT, Fire Codes.
  • Ability to lead and train employees, coordinate investigations, and manage emergency procedures.

Work Environment

The role is primarily performed in a climate‑controlled office setting with moderate to high noise levels and occasional plant operations. Employees may be exposed to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions, as well as extreme heat or cold. Physical demands include handling material up to 40 lbs. Occasional travel, including overnight, may be required.
