TrinityRail Maintenance Services is searching for a talented team player to fill the opening of EHS Manager at our Shell Rock, IA plant facility.This role owns the site’s safety and environmental function, partnering with leaders to drive compliance, reduce risk, and support Trinity’s goals. As a new, state-of-the-art railcar maintenance facility, we are looking for a hands-on EHS leader who can build trust, strengthen systems, and help shape a culture of safety accountability from the ground up.This is a high-impact opportunity for an EHS leader who wants to shape systems, influence culture, and leave a lasting mark on a growing facility.Why this role stands out:Opportunity to build and influence the EHS function at a new railcar maintenance facilityStrong partnership with Operations, HR, and site leadershipVisible leadership role with direct impact on safety culture and employee experienceWhat you’ll do:Own and lead safety and environmental programs that support compliance with company expectations and regulatory requirementsDrive compliance through EHS Management Systems, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and RCMSLead and develop multi-shift safety professionals responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving safety and environmental programsLead safety investigations across departments, ensuring timely fact-finding, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and shared learningOversee workers’ compensation matters, including case investigation, return-to-work support, and partnership with OperationsOwn high-hazard work analysis, ergonomic assessments, and proactive risk evaluations that reduce exposure and improve workplace conditionsLead multi-shift safety committees, training, and coaching that reinforce accountability, employee engagement, and safe work practicesWork directly with employees and leaders to resolve safety concerns, remove barriers, and reinforce a culture of ownership and follow-throughMaintain accurate records, communicate trends, and keep facility leadership informed of risks, progress, and compliance needsWho we’re looking for:A strong manufacturing leader with significant experience and a track record of progressive growth and creating a positive safety cultureDemonstrated ownership of environmental management and a proactive approach to driving compliance, continuous improvement, and risk reductionA mindset of accountability and ownership for their area, with the ability to follow through, solve problems, and lead with confidenceA collaborative partner who works effectively with cross-functional teams to support people, safety, and business needsA consistent model of honesty, professionalism, and integrity in daily decisions and interactionsWhat you’ll need:Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental health, or a related field5+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment, 10 years preferred3+ years of experience leading employees or safety professionalsCertified Safety Professional certification strongly preferredBilingual (English/Spanish) Skills are a plusWorking knowledge of safety, environmental, health, and workers’ compensation regulationsKnowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, RCMS, or similar management systemsExperience leading audits, corrective actions, and compliance follow-throughAbility to lead, coach, and influence across all levels of the organizationStrong manufacturing awareness with the ability to learn operations quicklyStrong recordkeeping, reporting, and follow-through skillsClear communication style with the ability to partner from the shop floor to senior leadership
