Job Description
Hiring: EHS Manager | Greater Richmond, VA
I'm recruiting an EHS Manager for a regulated chemical manufacturing site in the Greater Richmond region.
This is a visible site leadership role for an experienced EHS professional who understands U.S. environmental and safety regulations and enjoys being close to plant operations. The site has made meaningful progress strengthening its EHS programs, and the next leader will have the opportunity to build on that foundation and continue raising the bar.
What you'll own:
• Site EHS strategy, regulatory compliance and permitting
• Environmental programs including air, wastewater, stormwater, spill prevention and hazardous waste
• Process Safety Management (PSM) activities
• Incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Emergency response, industrial hygiene and contractor safety
• Internal operational excellence / management systems and audit readiness
• Coaching and development of an EHS Specialist with the potential to grow into greater responsibility
What we're looking for:
• 5+ years of EHS experience, ideally within chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food or another regulated manufacturing environment
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. environmental and safety regulations
• PSM experience a big plus
• Experience working within structured management systems such as ISO, operational excellence or similar audit-based programs
• Organized, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities
• A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build strong relationships across Operations, Engineering, Quality and corporate teams
• Someone who enjoys coaching others and developing future EHS talent
This is a good opportunity for an EHS professional who wants real ownership of a manufacturing site rather than simply administering corporate programs.
I have a strong relationship with the Plant Manager and have spoken with him directly about what will make someone successful in this position.
If you're in the Richmond market, considering a move to the area, or simply curious about the opportunity, send me a message. I'd be happy to have a confidential introductory conversation.
