This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role supporting a large industrial manufacturing facility that produces aerospace transparency systems, including aircraft windshields, windows, military aircraft canopies, and specialized transparent products.

The EHS Manager will spend significant time in the manufacturing environment, partnering with employees, supervisors, site leadership, and senior management to strengthen safety performance, maintain environmental compliance, and help drive a proactive EHS culture.

Key Responsibilities

Provide hands-on EHS leadership across a large industrial manufacturing operation.

Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and build effective relationships with employees, supervisors, managers, and site leadership.

Lead safety programs involving risk assessments, job safety analyses, machine safety, LOTO, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

Support environmental compliance activities involving air quality, permitting, emissions, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, stormwater, and applicable EPA requirements.

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, state, local, and site-specific EHS requirements.

Support implementation and continuous improvement of the site EHS Management System.

Coordinate audits, compliance reviews, regulatory reporting, and corrective action plans.

Support occupational health and industrial hygiene programs involving noise, dust, solvents, acids, flammable materials, ventilation, PPE, and employee exposure concerns.

Develop and deliver EHS training and provide coaching to employees and leaders throughout the organization.

Partner with site leadership to establish EHS goals, improve key performance indicators, and drive continuous improvement.

Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities.

Provide leadership and development to one direct report.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; candidates with broader manufacturing or operations experience combined with strong EHS experience will also be considered.

Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and build credibility across all levels of an organization.

Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, environmental compliance, and general industrial safety requirements.

Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, risk assessments, corrective actions, and safety program development.

Environmental experience involving air compliance, permitting, emissions, hazardous materials, or similar regulatory programs.

Ability to balance technical EHS responsibilities with hands-on operational support.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Ability to work onsite in Sylmar, CA.

Must meet applicable U.S. work authorization and security eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Approximately 8–10 years of progressive EHS experience within manufacturing, industrial operations, aerospace, chemical, coatings, advanced materials, or another highly regulated environment.

Previous supervisory, production, or operational leadership experience.

California EHS experience, including familiarity with Cal/OSHA or California environmental requirements.

Experience working within highly regulated air-quality environments such as South Coast AQMD.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or progress toward CSP certification.

CIH or other relevant professional EHS credentials.

What Will Make Someone Successful

The strongest candidate will combine solid technical EHS knowledge with an approachable, credible leadership style. This person should be comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor while also communicating effectively with senior leaders.

Candidates do not need to have mastered every area of EHS, but they should demonstrate strong fundamentals, sound judgment, leadership potential, and the ability to continue growing technically.
