Position Overview
The EHS Manager will oversee, implement, and maintain Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across 2 locations, with primary day-to-day oversight at our Linden, NJ flagship operation. This critical role ensures 100% compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, NJDEP) across bulk liquid tank washing, intermodal depot storage, equipment and maintenance operations.
A vital component of this role is serving as the subject matter expert and hands-on manager for the site's New Jersey Toxic Catastrophe Prevention Act (TCPA) program.
Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annual salary
Location: On site at our facility in Linden, NJ (Primarily)
Travel: 20-30% (Additional support to Chesapeake, VA)

Primary Responsibilities
1. TCPA & Regulatory Compliance (Linden, NJ)
  • Program Ownership: Manage, update, and audit the site's NJDEP TCPA program, ensuring all risk management plans, Inherently Safer Technology (IST) reviews, and process safety management elements are meticulously maintained.
  • Agency Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for NJDEP audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting regarding TCPA and hazardous materials storage.
  • Process Safety: Lead Hazard Assessments, Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and Management of Change (MOC) processes for chemical storage and tank wash operations.
2. Regional EHS Leadership & Site Support
  • Multi-Site Oversight: Provide EHS guidance, training, and auditing support to secondary location in Chesapeake, VA.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate high-risk hazards unique to the industry, including confined space entry (tank cleaning, maintenance and inspection), fall protection (working atop ISO tanks/trailers), lockout/tagout (LOTO), and hot work (maintenance/welding).
  • Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for all injuries, near-misses, and spills. Develop and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
3. Environmental & Waste Management
  • Wastewater & Air Compliance: Oversee the compliance of the tank wash wastewater treatment systems, discharge permits (NJPDES/POTW), and air permits.
  • Waste Management: Assist in the oversight of managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste characterization, profiling, manifest tracking, and disposal in compliance with RCRA.
4. Culture & Training
  • EHS Training: Deliver and track mandatory EHS training, including RCRA, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and TCPA-specific site awareness.
  • Safety Culture: Foster an active, proactive safety culture through daily floor presence, safety committees, and good catch reporting programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience : 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in chemical manufacturing, industrial tank cleaning, bulk logistics, or heavy industrial operations.
  • TCPA / PSM Expertise : Direct, hands-on experience with NJDEP TCPA regulations or OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) is required.
  • Technical Knowledge : Deep familiarity with OSHA (General Industry), EPA, and NJDEP regulations. Strong understanding of high hazard programs such as confined space, LOTO, fall protection/elevated work and hot work.
  • Certifications : CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or ASP preferred.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 30% to support regional facilities as needed.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Must be comfortable working in an industrial/depot environment, which includes climbing ladders and working in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Requires the ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, safety harnesses, and chemical-resistant clothing when necessary.
