The LNA 2 (Licensed Nursing Assistant) provides basic nursing care to patients with additional technical competencies under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse.

Requirements:

  0–6 months experience (MUST HAVE PHLEBOTOMY SKILL SET)

  n

• n

  Licensed Nursing Assistant – NH State

  n
n
• n

  CPR Certified within 90 days of hire

  n
n

Major Responsibilities:

n
1. n

   Follows established departmental policies and procedures; objectives; quality improvement programs; safety/environment of care programs and infection control standards.

   n
n
2. n

   Performs basic procedures including incentive spirometry, bedside testing such as blood glucose testing; non-sterile dressing changes, and oral suctioning and maintains aseptic techniques when appropriate.

   n
n
3. n

   Provides personal care to patients.

   n
n
4. n

   Monitors condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel.

   n
n
5. n

   Performs accurate and timely documentation of patient care information on appropriate patient medical record forms.

   n
n
6. n

   Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patient and family in accordance with hospital standards including assurance and support of patients' rights and responsibilities.

   n
n
7. n

   Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs; current literature; inservices; meetings and workshops.

   n
n
8. n

   Determines proper functioning of medical equipment to assure patient safety.

   n
n
9. n

   Participates in the development and implementation of the patient care plan.

   n
n
10. n

    Performs EKG's and/or ortho tech/telemetry skills. May perform phlebotomy in designated areas.

    n

11. n

    Orients new LNAs.

    n
n
