Educational Diagnostician
The Educational Diagnostician is responsible for conducting and interpreting comprehensive educational and diagnostic assessments including cross-battery assessments. The Educational Diagnostician also works collaboratively with school-based teams and other exceptional education service providers by recommending instructional strategies, accommodations, interventions, and modifications to support students, based on the results of the assessments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers and interprets the results of standardized achievement tests, criterion- referenced tests, informal tests, and developmental measures to determine the educational level of students in grades preschool – 12
- Participates in School-Based Intervention Team meetings, eligibility meetings, and IEP meetings when applicable, to communicate diagnostic findings to administrators, teachers, parents and other professionals
- Provides input on student strengths and areas for academic growth; consults with teachers, administrators, parents, and other professionals regarding students' educational needs
- Reviews student educational records
- Supports the development and implementation of training on the administration and interpretation of educational assessments
- Compiles, maintains, and files all required educational reports and documents
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with students, parents and colleagues
- Maintains confidentiality of all student records
- Assists in the selection of assessment materials and equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Special Education, Psychology or related field required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in assessment administration and evaluation for the purpose of determining eligibility for Exceptional Education Services
- Demonstrated ability to administer and interpret evaluation results; expertise in curriculum-based assessment and instructional interventions
- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing exceptional education programming
- Valid NMPED Licensure required.
