Position: Education Law / School Board Attorney
Location: Remote — Central Florida region, with occasional client travel (a few times per month)
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years
Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an Education Law Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join its team, focusing on representation of school boards and other educational entities across Central Florida. This is a remote position, with travel required a few times per month to meet with clients.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as counsel to school board and/or educational agency clients on a wide range of governance and operational matters
- Advise on compliance with federal and Florida education law, including Title IX, IDEA, FERPA, and Florida Statutes governing public education
- Attend and advise at school board meetings, workshops, and hearings (in person as needed)
- Draft and review policies, contracts, and administrative resolutions
- Represent clients in administrative proceedings, including student discipline, employment, and special education matters
- Advise on public records, Sunshine Law, and procurement compliance
- Coordinate with litigation team on disputes involving school board clients
- Build and maintain relationships with school board members, superintendents, and administrative staff
- Travel within Central Florida a few times per month for in-person client meetings and board sessions
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Florida, in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in education law, municipal law, or government/public entity representation
- Familiarity with Florida school board governance and administrative law
- Strong writing, advisory, and public-speaking skills
- Comfortable working remotely with periodic in-person client travel
