Summary/objective
As an Emergency Room Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality emergency care and support to patients in a fast-paced critical access hospital. Under the supervision of registered nurses and providers, you will perform essential clinical procedures, assist in emergency response efforts, and ensure the safe transport and monitoring of patients. Your responsibilities will include documenting care activities, maintain equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team, providing compassionate patient advocacy and support while continuously enhancing your skills and knowledge in emergency medical care. Your dedication and expertise will contribute significantly to the efficiency and effectiveness of the emergency department, ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate care
Requirements
Essential Functions
- Patient Care:
• Perform assessments within EMT/CNA scope of practice, vital signs, and documenting findings accurately.
• Prioritize patient care based on the severity of conditions.
- Clinical Procedures:
• Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) and specimen collection for laboratory testing.
- Emergency Response:
• Assist in resuscitation efforts, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
- Patient Transport:
• Assist with the transfer of patients to and from stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs.
- Equipment and Supplies:
• Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
• Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies as needed.
- Documentation and Communication:
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
• Relay critical information to RNs, Providers, and other healthcare professionals promptly.
- Safety and Compliance:
• Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in continuous education and training programs to stay updated with current practices.
- Patient Advocacy and Support:
- Team Collaboration:
• Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
Professional Development:
• Preferred EMT certification, CNA accepted and complete required continuing education.
• Stay informed about advancements in emergency care and integrate new knowledge into practice.

Travel required:
Required education and experience:
- Current EMT/CNA certification
- Current AHA BLS certification
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Previous experience working in an emergency room or acute care setting preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience as an EMT/CNA or similar role in a healthcare environment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred but not required.
- Pediatric Cardiac Life Support (PALS) certification preferred but not required.
Salary Description
$22 hourly
