Exceptional Children's Program Compliance SpecialistUnder the direction of the Director of Exceptional Children, the EC Program Compliance Specialist will support the instructional and legal requirements of the EC program. Person(s) in this role must possess a high level of knowledge and expertise in the educational needs of students with disabilities, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Special EducationHold or be eligible to hold a NC Teaching License in Special EducationMinimum of 5 years of experience working with students with disabilitiesAdaptive license preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExceptional verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively collaborate with othersAbility to work with diverse groups of peopleAbility to maintain complete confidentialityMaintain emotional control under stressKey Duties and ResponsibilitiesMonitor program complianceAudit EC folders, as determined by RSSSCommunicate updates, concerns and needs to RSSS staffPlan, develop and implement staff development for RSSS staff for compliance and programmingPrepare data reports to ensure all district, state and federal regulations and requirements are metAssists RSSS staff with timelines managementCollaborate and support classrooms, teachers and schoolsIs knowledgeable of educational and instructional needs of students with special needsAssist RSS staff with curricular, instructional and behavior management needs (observations, modeling, etc.)Plan, develop and implement staff development to support students with special needs in general and special educationAttend IEP Team meetings, when neededAssist with the referral process, both initial and reevaluation, when neededServe as a resource for information regarding laws, regulations and procedures related to special educationWork closely with new teachers and teachers who need additional supportCommunicate updates to RSSS staffRSSS, state and federal expectationsRSSS, state and federal legal updatesSupervise and coordinate special programs, as assigned by the DirectorEasyIEPTransitionGrantsMaintain a high level of confidentiality both for students and staffSupport the direction of the Exceptional Children's Department while doing what is in the best needs of the studentComplete all duties assigned by the Director of Exceptional Children appropriate to the role of a Program Compliance SpecialistTerm of employment: 11 month employment
