Role Description
The Economic Development Director is a full-time, on-site role located in Burkburnett, TX. This position leads efforts to attract, retain, and expand businesses, working closely with local employers, investors, and community organizations. Daily responsibilities include developing and implementing economic development strategies, managing projects that support job creation, and coordinating marketing initiatives to promote the city as a place to live, work, and invest. The Director conducts research on market trends, prepares reports and presentations for city leadership, and collaborates with regional partners and government agencies to secure funding and incentives. The role also involves overseeing budgets for economic development programs, engaging with residents and stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with the city’s long-term planning and community development goals.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Economic Development and Community Development, with a track record of supporting business growth and job creation.
- Knowledge of Public Administration, including experience working with municipal government processes, policies, and stakeholder engagement.
- Background in Urban Planning or related fields, with the ability to integrate land use, infrastructure, and community needs into development strategies.
- Proficiency in Budgeting and financial management, including developing, monitoring, and reporting on program budgets.
- Strong analytical, research, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with business leaders, community organizations, elected officials, and regional partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus.
- Experience in local or regional economic development, community planning, or municipal government strongly preferred.
