EC Teacher Assistant

Job Summary: All tasks performed by the Teacher Assistant are designed to aid the classroom teacher in preparing and carrying out a meaningful learning experience for the students.
Qualifications:

• Obtained an Associate Degree or higher
• Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education.
• Effective Teacher Training

Essential Job Functions:

• Teach small reading groups and math groups to meet the core standards
• Sub for the teacher if she is required to work on another assignment during instructional hours.
• Help students with computer and technology instructions.
• Monitor children during the entire instruction to keep students focused on tasks.
• Help EC students who are mainstreamed into a regular classroom environment.
• Knowledge of the school organization and community.
• Ability to comprehend the purpose of teacher-designed strategies as a fulfillment of the instructional objective.
• Ability to solve minor problems without assistance.
• Ability to record data accurately
• Ability to efficiently present information and respond to questions from stakeholders and administration.
• Serve as a proctor during testing
• Monitors work assigned by teachers.
• Record student behavior
• Creates and distributes award for positive behavior
• Checks and reports attendance
• Gives group instruction as prescribed by the teacher
• Work one-on-one with special needs students.
• Reorganize materials at the end of the day.

Additional Tasks:

• Demonstrates various instructional activities
• Reports student progress to teachers
• Arrange classroom furnishing and equipment
• Prepares visual aids for the classroom
