What You'll Do
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
- Provide responsive care and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for infants and toddlers.
- Plan activities that support children's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.
- Follow approved curriculum and Head Start program requirements.
- Incorporate individualized and small-group activities into daily routines.
- Support learning through play, exploration, hands-on activities, and meaningful interactions.
- Respond to each child's individual needs, interests, and learning style.
- Maintain constant supervision of children and required child-to-staff ratios.
- Conduct daily health checks and follow health, safety, sanitation, and nutrition procedures.
- Observe, document, and assess children's development using approved assessment systems.
- Maintain accurate classroom and child records, including medical information, emergency contacts, and authorized release information.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding their child's development and learning.
- Conduct parent conferences and required home visits.
- Engage families in their child's learning and development.
- Participate in family engagement, child recruitment, and community activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free classroom and outdoor environment.
- Follow emergency, medication, and safety procedures.
- Make referrals when developmental or family needs are identified.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and agency information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Director or Education Manager.
In accordance with Head Start requirements, Early Head Start center-based teachers must have:
- A minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential
- Training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development

- Dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
This position requires the ability to:
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Bend, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Work directly with infants and toddlers throughout the day
- Assist with classroom and center activities as needed
If personal transportation is required for job duties, employees must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have a valid driver's license
- Provide required automobile liability insurance
- Provide a current Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Meet the requirements to be insured under the program's non-owned vehicle insurance plan
