Tripp Elementary Scho Ol Dual Language Program AssistantPosition begins at the start of the school year; PEL or Substitute License required, ability to speak Spanish required, Bilingual/ EL endorsement preferred. Starting Pay: $16.50 hourly rate up to $18 per hour Benefits include: Paid time off, tuition reimbursement, 7.5 hour paid dayGeneral Job DescriptionProvide assistance with instruction and language development under the supervision of a certified teacher.Areas requiring supervised assistance may include, though not necessarily limited to, classrooms, washrooms, playgrounds, gymnasiums, libraries, and other educational settings as determined by the classroom teacher and/or principal.QualificationsIllinois Paraprofessional License, Substitute License or PEL Fluency in Spanish required ESL or Bilingual endorsement preferred Ability to work with people tactfully and courteously Ability and desire to assist students and teachers Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with established policies Ability to be flexible on a day to day basis based on student and building needEssential Job Functions & Expectations-Assist with the supervision and instruction of students as directed by teacher -Works with small and large groups and individual students as directed by teacherProvide language support in Spanish and English under the direction of teacher-Assist the teacher in all aspects of daily programs -Communicate with education team about student needs -Assist with maintaining accurate records for the monitoring of student's progress (ie. behavior charts, data collection) -Assist with the preparation of instructional materials, as needed -Assist with translation and interpretation, as needed -Support students with communication -Implement strategies for managing student behavior, as directed -Support students as they transition between classes or activities within the gen ed setting -Participate in all staff meetings and in-service sessions, as requested -Respond appropriately to suggestions from teacher and/or principal -Assume responsibility for duties outside the classroom including playground, busses, dismissal, lunchroom, etc.
