D242 Drillers are responsible for all shipboard drilling tasks for submarine mechanical components. This includes nuclear and non-nuclear shipboard work.
Limited shop work is included. Shipboard drilling work in the Groton Shipyard involves nearly every portion of a submarine, inside the hull, exterior, tanks and confined spaces.
