As a Drainage Project Engineer with 7–9 years of experience, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of drainage and stormwater infrastructure projects. This position offers the opportunity to lead technical efforts, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, buildable solutions for both public and private sector clients.Core Responsibilities for the RoleLead and contribute to the design of stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation systems for land development and infrastructure projectsPrepare and review drainage reports, technical calculations, plans, and specificationsPerform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, InfoDrainage, or similar)Apply local, regional, and national drainage standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirementsIdentify and manage drainage-related risks, constraints, and opportunities throughout project developmentManage assigned project components from concept through detailed design and construction supportCoordinate with civil, transportation, structural, and environmental teams to deliver integrated solutionsReview contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during constructionSupport development of cost estimates, schedules, and design optimizationsCollaborate with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to obtain approvals and resolve technical issuesParticipate in project meetings and present technical information clearly and confidentlySupport proposal preparation, scope definition, and business development efforts as neededProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designersReview work prepared by others to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistencyContribute to continuous improvement of standards, tools, and internal processesQualifications, Skills, and Competencies:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline7–9 years of progressive experience in drainage and stormwater engineeringProfessional Engineer (PE / P.Eng. / CEng) license or actively working toward licensureStrong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and drainage design principlesProficiency with drainage and modeling software (e.g., Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, InfoDrainage, XP-SWMM, or equivalent)Experience working with public and private sector clientsAbility to interpret survey data, geotechnical reports, and environmental constraintsSolid knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and approval processesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage priorities and work independentlyCollaborative mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approachHigh attention to detail with a focus on practical, constructible solutionsWhy Would a Candidate Want This Job?At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits.
