Job Title: DoW SBR Audit Remediation Consultant
Clearance Required: Secret
Location: Hybrid (Pentagon – Three days onsite)
About the Role:
BizFirst is seeking a DoW SBR Audit Remediation Consultant tosupport a Department of War (DoW) customer with Statement of BudgetaryResources (SBR) audit remediation and financial reporting improvement efforts.This role focuses on identifying root causes of audit findings, resolvingbudgetary discrepancies, and implementing sustainable process, data, andcontrol improvements to strengthen auditability.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in federal budget executionand SBR reporting, with a strong ability to perform reconciliations, supportaudit requirements, and drive remediation efforts across complex financialenvironments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support remediation of SBR-related audit findings, includingunsupported balances, incomplete populations, abnormal variances, and reportinginconsistencies
- Perform budget execution and SBR reporting analysis, including FundingAuthorization Document reconciliations, SF-132/SF-133 tie-outs, and varianceanalysis
- Reconcile key SBR line items to source systems and feeder data to ensureaccuracy and completeness
- Develop and document remediation plans, including milestones and deliverablesto support audit requests (PBC support)
- Assess and enhance internal controls over budgetary reporting and supportingbusiness processes
- Draft and update process narratives and audit documentation to support auditreadiness
- Partner with functional teams to remediate data quality issues and improvetransaction traceability
- Translate analytical findings into actionable corrective recommendations
- Support ongoing audit activities and stakeholder coordination efforts
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in federal financial management, budgetexecution, or financial statement audit support
- Demonstrated experience with SBR concepts (apportionment, obligations,outlays, upward/downward adjustments, and budgetary accounting)
- Hands-on experience performing reconciliations and variance analysis
- Experience developing audit-ready documentation and supporting audit requests(PBCs)
- Strong ability to translate financial findings into corrective actions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across diverse stakeholdergroups
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Secret Clearance (required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Experience supporting Department of War (DoW) or other federal financialmanagement programs
- Familiarity with budget execution systems and federal financial reportingprocesses
