Dosimetrist – Radiation Oncology (Lancaster, CA) (Onsite, Hybrid, or Remote)
City of Hope is searching for a Dosimetrist to perform CT simulation and build treatment plans using 3‑D computer‑assisted techniques. Under the guidance of a staff physicist, the role includes patient dosimetry, hand calculations for external beam therapy, dose calculation for irregular fields, preparation of total body irradiation data, and quality assurance checks on the treatment planning system to ensure accuracy and safety.
Tentative Schedule: Full‑time staff may choose to work onsite, hybrid, or remote for this position. The department highly prefers onsite presence, if possible.
Responsibilities
- Independently assess the necessary dosimetry and physics requirements for fulfilling the physician’s prescription
- Recommend treatment strategies to the physician
- Perform 2‑, 3‑D, and IMRT treatment planning
- Perform treatment planning for HDR and interstitial brachytherapy (where applicable)
- Digitize and import all beam‑shaping blocks at the completion of the simulation process
- Contour normal tissues according to physician instructions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or graduate of a 12‑month Medical Dosimetry program; CMD certification with 24 months experience post‑certification may substitute for the minimum education requirement
- Board‑eligible experience as required
- MDCB or eligible; must achieve MDCB within two years
- Hourly Pay Range: $60.46/hr – $80.72/hr – $100.98/hr
