Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem-Level Architecture & ModelingLead architecture exploration of next-generation AI, HPC, cloud, and enterprise systems.Develop analytical and simulation models spanning:Memory hierarchyCXL memory expansionHBM systemsGPU-attached memoryStorage-memory convergenceRack-scale disaggregationAI infrastructure fabricsLLM Inference pipeline deploymentAgentic AIDefine performance, latency, bandwidth, power, and TCO models to guide future product strategy.Build rack-scale and cluster-scale simulation environments to evaluate emerging workloads and architectures.Workload Characterization & AnalysisAnalyze AI training, inference, cloud, database, enterprise, storage, and HPC workloads.Develop workload taxonomies and behavioral models that capture:Memory bandwidth demandCapacity requirementsData movement patternsLLM inferenceInterconnect utilizationQoS behaviorTranslate customer and industry workloads into representative simulation models and benchmarks.Identify future memory and system bottlenecks and recommend architectural innovations.Architecture Co-OptimizationDrive cross-stack optimization across:ApplicationsFrameworksOperating systemsRuntime softwareMemory subsystemsStorage infrastructureNetworking fabricsQuantify tradeoffs among performance, power, reliability, capacity, and cost.Influence future product definitions for DRAM, HBM, CXL, SSD, and emerging memory technologies.Technical LeadershipServe as a recognized technical authority across the organization.Influence architecture decisions across multiple business units.Define long-term modeling and simulation strategy.Mentor senior architects and engineers.Represent the company in standards bodies, ecosystem initiatives, academic collaborations, and industry conferences.Required QualificationsEducationPhD or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.Experience15+ years of experience in system architecture, performance engineering, or infrastructure architecture!Proven experience developing large-scale performance models and simulation frameworks.Deep expertise in memory systems, storage systems, or AI infrastructure.Demonstrated ability to influence product direction through quantitative architectural analysis.Strong track record of patents, publications, or industry technical leadership.Technical ExpertiseStrong background in several of the following areas:Computer architectureMemory hierarchy designDRAM, HBM, LPDDRCXL architectureSSD and storage architectureRack-scale systemsDistributed systemsAI infrastructureNetwork fabricsGPU platformsAnalytical performance modelingQueueing theoryMonte-Carlo simulationWorkload characterizationPerformance optimizationHardware/software co-designTools & MethodsExperience with:System simulatorsPerformance modeling frameworksPython/C++ based modelingStatistical analysisData analyticsBenchmark developmentPerformance telemetryCapacity planningThe US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:$215,000.00 - $416,000.00 a yearAdditional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
