Division Director – Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the next Division Director.

About the Division

The division comprises 30 faculty members and 12 fellows and operates across two academic hospitals, offering six 24/7 ICU teams and a range of specialized programs, including Adult Cystic Fibrosis, Pulmonary Hypertension, and the Sleep Disorder Center. Accredited national programs such as the pulmonary embolism response team, Airway Breathing Center, post‑ICU clinic, and interstitial disease and sarcoidosis program further support our mission to provide state‑of‑the‑art clinical care and education.

Responsibilities and Expectations

• Elevate the division’s research enterprise to achieve national recognition.
• Lead and mentor faculty, trainees, and staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Advocate for the division and build trust among partners within SSM Health Saint Louis Region, the System, and the Saint Louis VA Medical Center.
• Oversee clinical care, education, and research programs, ensuring high quality standards.
• Promote collaborative initiatives to enhance patient care and academic missions.

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree, board-certified in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine, and eligible for medical licensure in Missouri.
• Proven track record in patient care, clinical education, and research within an academic medical center.
• Nationally recognized academic leader with expertise in clinical care, research, education, and mentorship.
• Experience in recruiting and retaining talent, and strong administrative presence.
• Active involvement in national and international professional organizations and recognition for leadership.
