Division Controller — Defense Electronics Manufacturer (Melbourne, FL area)

A publicly traded defense electronics manufacturer in the Melbourne, Florida area is hiring a Division Controller to own the full financial operation of a roughly $1B business. This is the top finance seat on site, reporting to the corporate controller and leading a team of about 30 across accounting, cost, and reporting. It is a hands-on, floor-present role at a real manufacturer, with hundreds of millions of dollars in inventory, running cost-type DoD programs.

What you’ll own

• Own the division's full operating close: GL, AP, AR, monthly and quarterly close, and financial statements.
• Own end-to-end manufacturing cost accounting: standard costing, WIP, overhead absorption, variance analysis, inventory valuation, E&O reserves, and cycle and physical counts.
• Government contract cost compliance: CAS, DCAA and DCMA business-system audits, incurred cost submissions, provisional and indirect rates, Deltek Costpoint.
• SOX controls and the integrity of the division’s numbers in a public-company environment.
• A finance organization of about 30, managers included, as the finance partner to operations and program leadership.

What you bring

• A track record as a Controller (division, plant, site, or BU) at a manufacturer, with real ownership of the operating close.
• Deep manufacturing cost and inventory experience. This is the core of the seat, not a footnote.
• Fluency in government contract cost (CAS, DCAA, incurred cost, Costpoint). You don’t have to have lived in it full time, but you need to speak it.
• Experience leading and developing a finance team at scale, managing managers, not a five-person shop.
• A visible, hands-on finance leader who partners daily with the plant and program teams, not a back-office reporter.
• CPA a plus. Public-company and SOX background a plus.
• U.S. Person status required (ITAR).
