About the Role

At AEG, we believe great patient experiences begin with great teams. As a District Manager, you'll inspire and support leaders across multiple practices, helping them develop their teams, deliver exceptional patient care, and achieve meaningful business results.

The District Manager leads through Practice Managers, Optometrists, field leadership, and cross-functional partners to identify performance gaps, develop leaders, support patient care, and drive sustainable business results.

This role uses business analysis, practice observation, coaching, and strategic planning to improve execution, build leadership capability, and develop district-level strategies that align with regional priorities, strengthen business performance, and advance provider, patient care, and talent needs.

  • Strengthen leadership capabilities across the district by identifying and developing emerging talent, supporting succession planning, and preparing leaders for expanded responsibilities and internal growth opportunities.
  • Support strategy to attract, retain, and develop talent. Help build strong team pipelines that support practice performance, leadership growth, and long-term staffing needs to ensure exceptional patient experience.
  • Develop high-performing, engaged teams by promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and a growth mindset.
  • Create consistent, patient-centered experiences by coaching practice leaders on service behaviors, care expectations, and team engagement routines.
  • Foster a positive team environment where practice teams feel supported, accountable, and equipped to deliver exceptional care and service.
  • Lead regular practice visits to evaluate business performance, patient experience, team engagement and leadership effectiveness while coaching practice leaders on opportunities to strengthen results and accountability.
  • Translate regional and company priorities into clear district-level action plans with measurable expectations and follow-up.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPI), including sales, revenue, conversion, continuity of care, labor, productivity, patient experience, staffing, and other operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Identify business barriers, operational risks, talent gaps, service gaps, compliance issues, and provide field insights and recommended solutions to leadership that will improve execution across the business.
  • Partner with practice and district leadership to elevate and support provider alignment, continuity of care, patient experience, and overall practice performance.
  • Lead district execution of company initiatives, training launches, operational changes, technology updates, acquisition integrations, and market expansion efforts while supporting adoption and long-term sustainability of expected behaviors.
  • Support market growth, new practice openings, acquisitions, integrations, and expansion efforts by partnering with regional leadership and cross-functional teams to plan readiness activities, align practice teams, execute change management priorities, and ensure successful adoption of operational standards, patient experience expectations, and business performance goals.
  • Champion district-wide change initiatives to promote improve operational performance, team engagement, and business results.
  • Manage district performance related to sales, profitability, labor, controllable expenses, inventory controls, discounting practices, loss prevention, and operational compliance.
  • Support additional operations projects, district initiatives, or regional priorities as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of multi-unit leadership experience in optical, healthcare, retail, hospitality, or comparable service/operations leadership experience required. Prior District Manager or Practice Manager leadership preferred.
  • College degree preferred; equivalent leadership and multi-unit operations experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold leaders accountable across multiple locations.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, patient care, optical performance, practice flow, team development, and service execution.
  • Ability to analyze business results, identify trends, connect data to behaviors, and build practical action plans.
  • Strong communication, coaching, observation, facilitation, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to influence, align, and lead through others across multiple practices, brands, and support functions.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across a district.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, use sound judgment, solve problems, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Ability to travel regularly within assigned district, typically 50–75% of the time.
