Distribution Design Engineer
Location: North Charleston, SC
Insight Global is seeking a Distribution Design Engineer to support a leading utility client in the Charleston area. This individual will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing underground conduit (duct bank) systems that deliver electrical power from substations to customers. The engineer will ensure all designs comply with utility standards, safety codes, and constructability requirements while supporting infrastructure projects throughout the downtown Charleston peninsula.
Responsibilities:
- Design and support underground electrical distribution projects in urban environments.
- Develop and modify duct bank layouts and underground conduit systems.
- Review designs for compliance with utility standards, safety requirements, and local regulations.
- Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, municipalities, and utility stakeholders.
- Evaluate existing underground infrastructure and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support construction activities by providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues.
- Prepare engineering documentation, drawings, calculations, and project deliverables.
- Assist with projects located throughout downtown Charleston and surrounding urban service territories.
Ideal Background:
Candidates from utilities, utility consulting firms, power delivery engineering groups, or firms performing underground distribution and duct bank design projects will be highly successful in this role. Experience supporting urban electric infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
Salary: $90,000-145,000.
