This leadership role is responsible for overseeing medium-voltage (4kV–34kV) underground and overhead distribution projects, ensuring successful delivery of reliability, capacity, and relocation work for investor-owned utilities, campuses, and developers. The ideal candidate has a deep technical background combined with proven experience in managing teams, driving proposals, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring operational and financial performance.Key Responsibilities: Team & Project LeadershipDirect and manage a group of electrical engineers and designers across multiple utility distribution projectsAssign project teams based on skill sets and workload availability to ensure delivery of quality and timely resultsProvide technical oversight, mentorship, and performance evaluations for group membersEnsure adherence to quality control procedures and engineering standardsProject Execution & FinancialsLead large-scale distribution projects including capacity expansions, network centers, relocations, and reliability upgradesManage group productivity, staff billability, and project profitabilityPerform independent technical reviews on deliverables to ensure accuracy and complianceCoordinate with civil and structural teams on cross-disciplinary project scopesClient Engagement & Proposal ManagementServe as a client-facing leader for complex distribution projects, maintaining high standards for satisfaction and communicationLead or contribute to the development of technical and pricing proposals for key accountsPresent proposals and technical plans to clients and stakeholdersIdentify and mitigate project risks and support strategic growth opportunitiesProcess Improvement & GrowthPromote continuous improvement across engineering practices, tools, and templatesDrive knowledge-sharing and internal training for junior engineersContribute to departmental planning, staffing strategy, and leadership successionQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required; MSEE preferredLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) is requiredMBA or PMP certification is a plusMinimum of 20 years of experience in electrical utility distribution engineering (4kV–34kV)Proven experience managing engineering teams and overseeing large utility or campus distribution projectsStrong understanding of underground and overhead utility design, permitting, and construction practicesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical presentation and proposal developmentDemonstrated leadership skills with ability to mentor and grow engineering talentPreferred ExperienceExperience working with investor-owned utilities (IOUs) or major private developersFamiliarity with utility software such as AutoCAD, GIS-based systems, CYME, or MilsoftExperience supporting or designing renewable energy infrastructure (e.g., solar, wind, battery storage)Compensation & BenefitsBase salary: $180,000 – $200,000, commensurate with experience401(k) with company match and employee stock ownershipComprehensive health, dental, and vision benefitsContinuing education and licensure reimbursementParental leave, wellness programs, volunteer time off, and more
