Distinguished Engineer, System Software Integration

Role overview

A Distinguished Engineer role responsible for system software integration across a complex hardware and software stack. The position sets technical direction for how drivers, firmware, operating systems, and user-mode components come together into a coherent, reliable platform for customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of system software integration across drivers, OS layers, and platform services.
• Drive deep technical investigations into hard integration, performance, and reliability issues spanning hardware and software boundaries.
• Mentor and review work from senior engineers across multiple system software teams.
• Partner with hardware, firmware, and product engineering to define integration requirements and release readiness criteria.
• Influence long-term platform strategy through design reviews, RFCs, and cross-org technical leadership.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and shipping production system software such as drivers, kernels, or platform runtimes.
• Deep familiarity with operating system internals, hardware-software interfaces, and performance engineering.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across large, multi-team engineering organizations.
• Strong skills in C and C++, with working knowledge of one or more systems languages such as Rust or Go.
• Track record of driving ambiguous, cross-cutting technical initiatives to completion.

Nice to have

• Experience with GPU, accelerator, or other specialized compute platforms.
• Contributions to open-source system software projects.
