POSITION SUMMARY:
The Distance Education Coordinator assists the Director of OnlineLearning & Strategy in advancement of Duquesne University's distanceeducation initiatives. This role ensures student and faculty success throughhigh-quality online learning experiences while maintaining institutionalregulatory compliance.
DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
Managescompliance with Distance Education regulations, manage State Authorization andProfessional Licensure process for compliance.
Supportsbest practices in online course and program delivery. This includes use ofrubrics to evaluate online instruction to ensure quality standards and Regular& Substantive Interaction (RSI) requirements are met.
Supports University DigitalAccessibility efforts to achieve and maintain WCAG 2.1 compliance.
Represents the Office of OnlineLearning and Strategy (Distance Education) at both internal and external eventsand trainings.
Utilizes emerging technologies andremain current on best practices in distance and higher education to supportstrategic goals.
Assistsfaculty and staff with recording and post-production of instructional videosutilizing recording studios.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimumqualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution.
1-3 years ofwork-related experience.
Instruction Designer Certificate (or comparable credentialattained through degree).
Quality Matters or OtherOnline Course Evaluation Certification within 90 days of hire.
UniversalDesign for Learning (UDL) or similar designing for accessibility and learningcredential within 90 days of hire.
Experiencein distance education.
Experience in regulatorycompliance and distance education regulations such as SARA.
Demonstratedknowledge of best practice in online course development, delivery and studentlearning.
Demonstratedknowledge of instructional design principles and emerging online learningtechnologies.
Experiencewith Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and web accessibility standards (WCAG2.1).
Expertisein the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
Backgroundin student success initiatives.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree in HigherEducation, Instructional Design, Education or related field from an accredited educationalinstitution.
Alternatively, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combinationof experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is notlimited to, the following:
Strong communication skills, ability to work effectively withdiverse constituencies,collaboration and teamwork, initiative and task completion.
Abilityto explore and adapt to emerging technologies and practices in higher education
Proficiencywith video recording, editing, post-production software and tools
Ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with the UniversityCommunity.
