Discovery Oversight and Congressional Counsel Attorney - Inspection Division Embed

Overview

A senior counsel embedded within the Investigation Division to provide legal support on discovery and congressional oversight. The role will advise on external reviews, audits, FOIA, and other discovery matters, and coordinate with DOJ general counsel.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to INSD and DOCCU on discovery, FOIA, audits, and investigations.
• Review and analyze document requests, prioritize, and assist in scoping.
• Attend opening and closing conferences and prepare witnesses.
• Review draft OIG/GAO reports for privilege and assist in drafting responses.
• Coordinate with DOJ OGC and other FBI units on document productions and analysis.
• Assist with external audits, litigation, and shooting reviews with the Investigative Law Unit.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen and able to obtain Top‑Secret/SCI clearance.
• Minimum five years substantive experience in FOIA, discovery, and records management.
• Attorney experience as agency counsel on FOIA litigation is preferred.
• J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school and active bar membership (any U.S. jurisdiction).
• 2.5+ years post‑J.D. experience for GS‑14; 4+ years for GS‑15.
• Completed FD‑887, OGE‑450, and other security forms.

• Copies of law school transcripts.
• Current SF‑50 (if applicable).

Salary

GS‑14: $132,368 - $172,075. GS‑15: $155,700 - $183,500.
