Position Summary

MarshBerry is currently seeking a Director, Valuation based in either our Beachwood OH, Grandville MI, Plano TX, or New York NY office. The Director will lead the growth and execution of MarshBerry’s valuation services. The Director will be responsible for generating and executing valuation and consulting engagements through the entire life cycle. They will establish guidelines, procedures and quality control measures to ensure accuracy and client satisfaction. They will serve as a technical resource, mentor colleagues, provide training and build enduring relationships with our clients to drive growth and establish MarshBerry as a strategic business partner. The Director will be responsible for strategic decision making and driving to internal expectations for practice growth or other metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the valuation team in completing valuations including valuations of ESOPs, Identifiable Intangible Assets, Personal Goodwill, and other unique valuation situations, including perpetuation planning, as well as gift and estate planning.
  • Generate and execute large and complex valuation and consulting projects through entire life cycle, interfacing with clients and other stakeholders or business advisors throughout the process.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, training, guidance and review of consultant’s valuation projects.
  • Develop and maintain valuation templates and models.
  • Establish guidelines, procedures and quality control measures to ensure accuracy, consistency and client satisfaction. Ensure guidelines and procedures are communicated effectively to those handling valuations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and prospects. Identify opportunities to bring in other MarshBerry consultants for other client needs.
  • Drive new business through engagement with prospective clients throughout the sales cycle.
  • Recognize opportunities for growth and implement strategies that will enhance client satisfaction, company market share, revenue growth and profitability. Fully develop and utilize the company’s capabilities and position the company as a strategic partner.
  • Develop and manage team through delivering feedback, monitoring progress, identifying training and resource needs, and completing performance management reviews for direct reports.
  • Collaborate with other Valuation groups within the Lincoln International organization to optimize cross practice knowledge sharing.
  • Stays abreast of valuation and industry trends and changes incorporating “best practices” in the development of services, quality standards, policies and programs.
  • Facilitates presentations and publishes articles on timely valuation topics affecting our clients.
  • Collaborate with marketing and other teams across the organization to create external marketing collateral, further develop capabilities and service delivery.
  • Any other special projects, tasks and duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Additional Professional Designations or Certifications desired, such as CPA, CVA/AVA, ABV, or ASA.
  • 10-15+ years of Leadership with related experience in valuation, consulting or financial services.
  • Must be familiar with relevant valuation standards (Fair Value, Fair Market Value) and IRS and other industry organization guidelines (i.e. AICPA). International valuation experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience in managing work teams to achieve and exceed goals and objectives.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time; includes overnight and limited weekend travel.
  • Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours as needed.
  • Proficient with technology including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant software programs.
  • Analytical, proactive problem-solving skills; capable of identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner, and analyzing information skillfully.
