The Sales/Marketing/Applications Engineering Director reports to the President and CEO and is responsible for implementing and spearheading the sales and marketing strategy, and providing technical support to a global customer base, as well as, recruiting, developing, and managing the sales and marketing team.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and coordination of company sales, marketing, and application/product support engineering functions.
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies.
- Monitor and analyze sales and marketing activity against established goals.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Coordinate sales and marketing functions, cross-company, and cross-functionally.
- Identify market potential, develop and implement sales and marketing strategy.
- Achieve sales objectives and KPIs by planning, setting sales goals, analyzing data on past performance, and projecting future performance.
- Direct and oversee the company sales function to identify and develop new customers/markets for products, maintain relationships with key customers, and explore needs and respond to concerns in a timely manner.
- Research and develop strategies and plans which identify marketing opportunities, direct marketing, and new project development.
- Implement pricing strategies, discounts, and project quotations.
- Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results.
- Directly manage major and developing client accounts and manage all other accounts.
- Negotiate and secure timely customer approval for project scope changes and contract modifications.
- Participate in the development of new project proposals and costing of product for market consumption.
- Plan and conduct customer and distributor training programs.
- Delivery of sales presentations, product demonstrations, and for example installation of equipment.
- Travel to support customer requirements within the continental US and international (Distributor and customer visits, trade shows, troubleshooting installations, etc.) – no more than of 8 to 10 weeks per annum.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business and/or Engineering or 10+ years in a similar position.
- Experience in the engine controls or power generation industry is A MUST.
- Relevant industry knowledge of industrial equipment, and diesel and/or gas engine market is desirable.
Required Skills
- Understanding of structuring sales goals and revenue expectations.
- Experience in planning marketing strategies and promotional campaigns.
- International experience is strongly encouraged.
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes.
- Must be a proactive, energetic self-starter who requires minimal supervision and is willing to go beyond to meet job objectives.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize activities to meet program deadlines and goals.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills – clear and concise.
- Must have excellent presentation and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to obtain Visas for international travel as required.
Preferred Skills
- Fluent in English. Additional languages are desirable.
- Should be patient and polite, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult situations.
- Should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, plus general computer skills.
Pay range and compensation package
Compensation: $90K–$120K. There may need to be flexibility based on market feedback.
