Description
The Director of Respiratory Therapy is responsible for the daily operations of the Respiratory Care, EEG, and EKG departments including all administrative, fiscal, and technical activities to ensure efficient provision of high quality health care services. The Director is responsible for quality control activities, performance improvement, and clinical operations of the department. Additionally, the Director plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the work of the department and coordinates its efforts with other areas of the hospital. The Director is also responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements related to Respiratory Care services.
Essential Functions:
- Leads routine staff meetings focused on short- and long-term goals.
- Develops and implements department staffing plans based on workload.
- Identifies and addresses staff development needs through education, coaching, and mentoring.
- Ensures timely completion of performance appraisals.
- Manages department budget, justifying expenditures and variances in operations reports.
- Conducts cost/benefit analyses for new services and ensures efficient use of resources.
- Maintains compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Promotes process improvement and quality outcomes through patient education and adherence to core measures.
- Stays updated on industry trends and attends mandatory training and continuing education programs.
Participates in interviews, selects staff, completes their performance appraisals and provides input on disciplinary actions according to People and Talent guidelines.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
Respiratory Therapy license in the state of Florida
Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Red Cross (ARC) o Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Experience: Five years’ clinical experience in area of specialty or related clinical field with at least two years’ supervisory or management experience.
