Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in our growth strategy and create an atmosphere of safety and quality.
  • Collaborate with physicians and ancillary areas.
  • Have strong regulatory requirements/survey knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, strategic in addressing physician relations, excellent and succinct communicator (written and verbal).
  • Follow up on occurrences, risk issues in a timely manner. Experience with independent review boards such as the LeapFrog Group.
  • Support 22 facility Directors.
  • Work with approximately 1,100 board Certified Hospital Physicians.

Job Function

  • Develop, plan and implement policies and objectives of the facility for quality assessment, quality management, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of services.
  • Analyze healthcare processes and patient outcomes, develop outcome measures and monitor sensitive quality outcome indicators to identify areas for improvement.
  • Evaluate the impact of improvement activities.
  • Oversee sentinel event investigations and root cause analysis activities within the facility to reduce risks and increase patient safety.
  • Review and analyze facility occurrence reports to identify clinical risk issues; facilitate investigation and follow-up on events with the appropriate managers/VPs.
  • Initiate probable claims report (PCR) as appropriate; investigate using record review, interviews and other methods to provide adequate information for the report.
  • Facilitate the investigation and resolution of patient complaints and grievances; initiate and/or review correspondence to patient/family following established timelines.
  • Facilitate the implementation and completion of the elements of the annual HCI Premium Credit Program; communicate the results of the quarterly risk metrics to managers/VPs and senior leaders; facilitate development and communication of appropriate action plans for identified outliers.

Reporting Structure

The Director reports to the Hospital CNO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years clinical and managerial experience.
  • Quality management practice, regulatory compliance, and TQM training and experience is preferred.
  • Experience in utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, clinical systems and databases.
