Optical Transceiver Product Line ManagerThis position will play a key role in the growth and improved profitability of Coherent Corp Datacenter & Communications BU through management of optical transceiver product lines.This management role requires a strong understanding of high-speed optical transceivers and related technologies, along with extensive interaction with both external partners (customers, suppliers, contract manufacturers, industry experts) and internal teams (R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal).Travel up to 30% is anticipated.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage P&L and Financial PerformanceDrive revenue and gross margin for the businessMonitor sales and backlogsParticipate in annual budgeting and 5-year planning. Help set revenue and profitability targets to support the 5 Year PlanReview financial and shipping results and monitor monthly taking action as requiredMonitor and maximize Rev, gross margins and BOPInitiate, drive and monitor costs reduction activitiesHelp with business case preparations of R&D investments and CapEx investments. Project 5 year investment roadmap on R&D investments for your productsMonitor R&D and CapEx investments associated with your products, measure and report the ROIC as per business caseMonitor cost effectiveness of tactical programs, capital expenditures, and capacity plans with operations teamsEnsure consistent achievement of customer, project, cost and quality results to support annual & strategic plansSupport 5 Year Planning process with forward looking input and plans to achieve number one market share and industry profitsDrive Design Wins and Ongoing Business/Market ShareWork with sales channels/distributors and product marketing worldwide to bring in identified design-in opportunities into the BUWork with product marketing and sales to develop customer engagement plans and lead teams to execute winsDevelop and manage strong business/technical relationships at customersDrive product engineering teams to design and develop manufacturable standard and customized products to achieve market share leadershipWork with Product Development teams to ensure new products are done on schedule and on budget with improvements in cycle timeSales SupportDrive sales teams to maximize bookings and revenues for your productsTranslate customer requirements into profitable product offerings in line with strategic goalsReview customer requirements and work with Sales/marketing/R&D/Ops teams on winning proposals – specs & pricingProduct requirements are quickly and successfully transferred from our customers into new design conceptsNew design concepts are created and designed which provide significant revenue growth.Ensure engineering team provides customers outstanding technical support leading to repeat business and new bookings at the expense of our competitorsDevelop product requirements into new designs and prototypes which meet or exceed our competitors and are delivered within customer requirementsProduct Life Cycle ManagementResponsible for maintaining the product and ensuring cross-functional compliance to product life cycle processesAs a key part of the PLC team, prepare business cases for new development projects.Monitor progress of R&D projects and metricsUnderstand business impacts of customer wins/losses and assist leadership to manage from a portfolio perspectiveEnsure engineering products/processes are transitioned effectively into production products and processesEnsure reliability and qualification test data sets are current to support market opportunitiesOperations SupportAssist Operations in forecasting and revenue planning. As part of this process responsible for the unconstrained forecast (after discussions with sales team)Monitor and coordinate order fulfillment processes to meet cost, lead-time, on-time delivery, volumes, quality and margin objectives.

Provide allocation of which customer orders to fulfil each weekDrive on-going cost-reduction activitiesBenchmark costs and work with Ops/NPI/Supply chain/Contract Manufacturers to achieve cost targets, buffers and roadmapsAssist R&D and supply chain in identifying new vendors/CMs and participate in negotiations with key CMs/suppliersCollaborate closely with other BUs that supply components (in-feed) to ensure they remain competitive and are always 100% supplier of choiceWork with Operations on capacity expansion Capital business case to support volume forecastTrack and ensure ROIC on CAR associates with their ProductsMarketing SupportAssist in defining and driving product strategyMonitor competitive landscapeDevelop salesware and support marketing by preparing product launch collateralEducation & ExperienceBA or BS in Engineering required. MBA or MS/PhD in Engineering strongly preferred10+ years of experience in Product Management/Engineering Leadership roles in the materials or related industryDeep understanding of high speed optical transceivers and related technologyFamiliarity with hyper scale and switch/ASIC vendor ecosystems.A proven track record of product management leadershipThe ideal candidate demonstrates ownership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership, and driving product vision / roadmapHistory of making data-driven decisions, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and delivering measurable business resultsSkillsKnowledge and understanding of financial instruments: P&L, balance sheet, income statementAbility to easily and successfully work with employees and customers in a multi-cultural, global team environmentAbility to handle multiple priorities and complex issues involving external and internal prioritiesExcellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skillsSet a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competencyWorking ConditionsWorking conditions typical of a climate controlled and professional office environment.
