Role Overview

Your mission is to be the driving force behind our global growth, redefining how a leading B2B SaaS company acquires customers at scale. You will serve as the visionary owner of our end-to-end paid media strategy, charting the course to deliver explosive pipeline generation, secure critical customer acquisition, and maximize bottom-line revenue impact. This challenge requires a strategic pioneer who combines relentless analytical rigor with innovation, using modern digital channels and deeply leveraging AI to enhance marketing performance, streamline workflows, and scale team productivity to new heights. As the Director, Paid Media, you will be reporting to the VP, Experiential Marketing and will be a critical member of their leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Paid Media Strategy & Execution
    • Develop and own the global paid media strategy aligned to pipeline and revenue goals
    • Allocate and optimize annual budget across channels including paid search, display, industry publishers, and emerging platforms
    • Partner with Brand Strategy, Growth Marketing, and Product Marketing teams to align campaigns with target personas, buying stages, and business priorities
    • Continuously test, measure, and iterate on campaign performance to maximize ROI, CPL, CPC, and CAC efficiency
  • Agency Management
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the external media agency
    • Set clear performance goals, KPIs, and accountability frameworks
    • Ensure campaigns are executed effectively, on time, and within budget
    • Evaluate agency performance and recommend improvements or changes as needed
  • Team Leadership
    • Manage and develop a team paid media and marketing professionals
    • Foster a culture of accountability, experimentation, and continuous improvement
    • Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development opportunities
    • Establish clear processes, workflows, and performance expectations
  • AI & Marketing Innovation
    • Champion the use of AI tools to improve campaign performance, reporting, and decision-making
    • Identify and implement AI-driven solutions to automate repetitive tasks (e.g., reporting, creative testing, etc.)
    • Train and enable the team to effectively use AI in daily workflows to increase speed, efficiency, and output quality
  • Analytics & Reporting
    • Define and track KPIs including CAC, CPL, and pipeline contribution
    • Build and maintain dashboards to provide visibility into performance and insights
    • Translate data into actionable recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams
    • Partner with Performance Marketing to ensure accurate attribution and funnel measurement

Qualifications

  • 10-12 years of experience in paid media, preferably in B2B SaaS
  • Proven experience managing seven-figure media budgets and delivering measurable ROI
  • Strong experience managing agencies and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Deep expertise in platforms such as Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and programmatic channels
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience using tools like Google Analytics, BI platforms, and attribution models
  • Hands‑on experience using AI tools (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms, predictive analytics) in marketing workflows
  • Strong understanding of how AI can improve campaign optimization, content generation, and operational efficiency
  • Comfortable with experimentation and adopting new technologies
  • Strategic thinker with a strong bias toward execution
  • Data‑driven decision‑maker with a test‑and‑learn mindset
  • Strong communicator and collaborator
  • Naturally curious and proactive about emerging trends, especially in AI

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary pay range for this position located in New York is $157,500‑$180,000. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non‑sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses. Benefits include medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k) matching, family leave, flexible paid time off, and 10 paid holidays per year.
