is seeking an experienced and driven Department Manager to lead our Industrial Field Services and Engineering Consulting team. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a hands-on, client-focused environment and has the ability to combine technical depth with operational leadership.This position includes oversight of projects involving industrial water systems, including pure/ultrapure water, as well as industrial wastewater and EPA pretreatment program compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, field technicians, and project managersBuild a strong, accountable, safety-first culture aligned with Practical Applications' valuesRecruit, develop, and retain top technical talentProvide coaching and career development for team membersProject & Field OperationsOversee execution of industrial field service projects and consulting engagementsEnsure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standardsSupport teams in troubleshooting complex engineering challenges in real-world environmentsProvide oversight for projects involving:Industrial pure and ultrapure water systems (RO, DI, filtration, polishing systems)Industrial wastewater systems and treatment processesBalance field demands with consulting deliverables and resource availabilityClient Engagement & Business GrowthMaintain and strengthen long-term client relationshipsIdentify new opportunities within existing accounts and new marketsLead or support proposals, scopes of work, and technical presentationsRepresent Practical Applications as a trusted partner in:Water system reliability and performanceRegulatory compliance and pretreatment program managementDepartment Management & PerformanceManage departmental budget, utilization, and profitabilityTrack key performance metrics and drive continuous improvementOptimize processes to improve responsiveness and project executionEnsure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and client requirementsTechnical LeadershipProvide high-level technical oversight on complex projectsGuide engineering and field teams on:Industrial pure water system design, operation, and troubleshootingEPA industrial pretreatment program requirements and implementationRegulatory compliance, permitting, and reportingPromote best practices in industrial maintenance, water treatment, and reliability engineeringSupport teams with real-time problem-solving expertise in the fieldQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or related field)8+ years of experience in industrial field services, engineering consulting, or plant operations3+ years of leadership or management experienceHands-on experience solving real-world industrial operational challengesExperience with industrial water systems and/or wastewater treatmentPreferredProfessional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certificationDirect experience with:Industrial pure or ultrapure water systemsEPA industrial pretreatment programs and regulatory complianceBackground in process systems, utilities, or environmental engineeringExperience with root cause analysis, reliability engineering, or system optimizationProven success in business development and client relationship managementKey SkillsPractical, solutions-oriented mindsetStrong leadership and team-building capabilitiesExcellent communication and client engagement skillsAbility to translate regulatory requirements into operational practicesTechnical expertise in industrial water systems and compliance frameworksFinancial and operational management skillsCommitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardshipWhat We OfferCompetitive salary with performance incentivesComprehensive benefits packageOpportunity to lead a highly skilled and respected technical teamA collaborative, hands-on environment focused on solving real-world challengesCareer growth and leadership development opportunities
