Director of Technical Delivery

We are a fast-growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) delivering infrastructure, cloud, and security solutions to clients in highly regulated industries.

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Technical Delivery to lead a multi-disciplinary team of Project Managers and Technical Project Engineers. This role is responsible for end-to-end project delivery, ensuring client engagements are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical background combined with proven leadership experience within an MSP or IT services environment. You will play a critical role in shaping delivery standards, scaling team capability, and embedding modern tooling and automation into delivery workflows.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers and Technical Project Engineers
• Establish clear performance objectives, career development plans, and progression pathways
• Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and client-centric delivery
• Recruit and onboard high-calibre talent aligned to business growth

Project & Delivery Ownership

• Own the full lifecycle of client projects, from scoping and planning through to execution and handover
• Ensure consistent on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery across all engagements
• Oversee resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects, resolving conflicts and bottlenecks
• Implement and continuously improve delivery methodologies, frameworks, and tooling

Client Engagement

• Act as the senior escalation point for delivery-related client issues
• Work closely with pre-sales and account teams to support solution design and project scoping
• Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders across IT and business functions
• Lead delivery updates, project reviews, and executive-level reporting

Technical & Service Delivery Strategy

• Maintain and evolve delivery standards across core service areas, including infrastructure, cloud, identity, and security
• Develop repeatable delivery frameworks, templates, and best practices to improve efficiency and consistency
• Ensure alignment between project delivery and ongoing managed services operations
• Promote the adoption of automation and modern tooling to enhance delivery outcomes
• Track and manage key delivery metrics, including utilisation, project margins, and delivery performance
• Provide input into forecasting, capacity planning, and financial performance
• Ensure effective governance of project scope, change control, and commercial delivery
• Support compliance with relevant regulatory and security standards

Qualifications

• Significant experience within an MSP, IT services, or consultancy environment
• Proven leadership of mixed teams (Project Managers + Engineers) delivering complex technology projects
• Strong technical background across one or more of the following:
• Infrastructure & networking
• Identity & access management
• Cybersecurity tooling and frameworks
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects and delivery teams
• Strong commercial awareness, including project financials and resource utilisationExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience delivering services into regulated industries (e.g. financial services)
• Exposure to PSA tools and structured delivery environments typical of MSPs
• Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or relevant cloud/security accreditations
• Experience improving or scaling delivery functions within a growing organisation
