Retail Operations Manager – multistate supermarkets stores (based in NY or CT)

We have partnered with a family-owned retail organization seeking a bilingual (English / Spanish) Retail Operations Manager to join this high-performing leadership team. This hands-on role will work closely with ownership and executive leadership to oversee and optimize retail operations across a multi-state regional footprint with 10 or more retail locations.

The ideal candidate must have experience working in or with family-owned companies as this will be an important aspect of the role. The Retail Operations Manager will drive a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, retailer requirements, and operational best practices.

Bilingual (English – Spanish) language skills are required; this is not negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and mentor General Managers and retail employee teams across multiple markets to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
• Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, continuous improvement, and high performance.
• Conduct weekly (2-hour travel radius) market visits and store reviews to ensure consistent execution of merchandising standards, customer programs, training initiatives, and key business objectives.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, retailer requirements, safety standards, and operational best practices
• Address and resolve operational and personnel challenges in a timely manner while maintaining strong relationships with employees and customers
• Evaluate store performance including P&L oversight, labor management, inventory / shrink, store audits, KPI analysis and operational reporting; identify and implement opportunities for improvement and growth.
• Collaborate with retail customers, vendor / partners and internal teams to ensure seamless execution and exceptional in-store results.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience leading operations and location management, including merchandising, field operations and employee teams within grocery, CPG, food brokerage or retail environments
• Bilingual English-Spanish language skills are required and a background in Latino or similar grocery retail is highly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and talent development skills
• Self-starter with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities and proven ability to analyze performance metrics and drive operational improvements
• Willingness to travel within a 2-hour regional territory to support multiple store locations
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

This is a permanent, direct hire opportunity with a flexible schedule, working 45 – 48 hours/week (retail rhythm, including availability for weekends and off-hours as needed). A company vehicle will be provided for travel within the 2-hour territory radius; a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required. Compensation will be $120k base + 10% bonus target tied to performance.
