We are seeking a Director of Quality to build and lead a lean, high-leverage quality organization across two key pillars: Quality Systems and Quality Assurance. The company operates on a clear ownership model . Quality performance is owned directly by the teams executing the work—Supply Chain owns supplier delivery, and Manufacturing owns production specifications. The quality organization is not a substitute for that ownership. Instead, you will act as the Architect of Accountability , establishing the system framework, verifying compliance, and providing the analytical rigor that holds our technical performance to standard.
Responsibilities
- Quality Systems: Establish, document, and mature a scalable Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and critical product standards (UL 9540/9540A, UL 1973, IEC 62619, UN 38.3).
- Quality Assurance: Own the nonconformance and CAPA processes, applying structured root cause analysis to improve first-pass yield and drive systemic performance improvements.
- Data-Driven Leadership: Turn quality data into clear, actionable signals that drive decisions across cross-functional lines.
- Collaborative Partnership: Act as the primary quality interface for customers, suppliers, auditors, and certification bodies, coaching internal teams to own quality within their functions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a technical/scientific field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of quality engineering experience within a manufacturing or hardware environment, including direct leadership responsibility.
- Proven track record of building or significantly maturing a QMS (ISO 9001 or comparable) and leading internal audit loops.
- Strong command of root cause analysis, CAPA, quality metrics, and statistical methods.
- Proficiency with quality data, metrics, and statistical methods; able to translate data into action.
- Excellent cross‑functional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence without owning every problem.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in energy storage, batteries, power electronics, or related regulated hardware.
- Familiarity with relevant safety and certification standards (UL, IEC, IEEE, NEC, UN 38.3) and working with certification bodies.
- Certifications such as ASQ CQE, CQA, CMQ/OE, or Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Experience scaling quality in a growing manufacturing operation.
