This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building efficient systems, strong vendor partnerships, and effective purchasing strategies that support mission-driven work.As the Purchasing Director, you will oversee the Purchasing Department and supervise the Purchasing Coordinator while managing the full procurement lifecycle—from sourcing and contract management to vendor compliance and ERP administration.Summary of ResponsibilitiesStrategic Procurement & OperationsPartner with agency leadership to identify equipment, supply, and material needs across departmentsDevelop strategic purchasing solutions and identify acceptable alternatives when neededPrepare and process purchase orders and requisitions efficiently and accuratelyCoordinate the removal and disposal of surplus materials and equipmentERP & Systems ManagementMaintain and optimize purchasing and ERP systems to support efficient procurement operationsEnsure accurate vendor records, purchasing data, and workflow processesUtilize ERP tools to improve reporting, tracking, and operational efficiencyNetSuite experience is highly preferredContracting & Vendor ManagementEvaluate and approve bid specifications and award recommendationsDraft and implement purchasing policies, procedures, and contract management standardsLead vendor onboarding and ensure vendors are properly vetted and documentedConduct sanction screening against state and federal databases to ensure complianceMonitor vendor performance and compliance with contract terms and agency standardsServe as the agency representative during vendor and supplier negotiationsResolve vendor and contractor concerns professionally and effectivelyLeadership & Financial OversightSupervise and support the Purchasing Coordinator through coaching, performance management, and developmentManage departmental priorities and workflows to meet organizational deadlinesAdminister the department budget and support fiscal responsibility initiativesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field requiredMinimum of 5 years of professional purchasing or procurement experienceProven experience working within an ERP environment requiredNetSuite experience strongly preferredStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExceptional negotiation and vendor management skillsStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlinesProven leadership and supervisory experienceExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentSalary: $115K - $120K
