Director of Product Engineering

Our client, a leading small modular reactor developer, is seeking a Director of Product Engineering to lead engineering execution across their core product portfolio as the program moves from design into deployment.

This is one of the broadest technical remits in the SMR space. Reporting into you are three product streams, the reactor module itself, refueling and remote handling, and safety-related electrical and I&C, each led by a senior manager and all of which have to integrate into one deliverable plant. You will set direction across those streams, decide where people, budget and tools go, hold each accountable for results, and clear the risks that sit between design maturity and commercial delivery. You will also be the primary interface with the Office of Technology and Chief Engineers as new products come through, and the definitive voice on product engineering for executive leadership.

Few engineering leadership seats offer this much scope, or this clear a finish line. The outcome here is hardware, plants and delivery dates rather than concepts, with the scale and backing of an organization already competing at the front of the market.

The ideal candidate brings 15+ years in engineering or product development, with proven leadership of complex, multi-interface products and a track record in resource allocation, risk mitigation and getting products into customers' hands. A B.S. in a technical field is required, with nuclear experience and familiarity with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21 and NQA-1 preferred. Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 is essential.
