- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing or capital project environments
- 2+ years of experience leading technical or engineering teams
- Experience with hygienic or sanitary process design within regulated manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of process systems, including fluid handling, heat transfer, and equipment design
- Working knowledge of PLCs and control systems
- Experience with process data analysis and performance trending
- Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic oversight and tactical execution
Overview
The Director of Process Engineering will lead and develop the on‑site Process Engineering team within a high‑volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for providing technical leadership and support to daily operations, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, process optimization, and KPI‑driven performance monitoring. The position requires a decisive, hands‑on leader who can drive operational excellence, ensure product quality, and maintain high standards of safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Process Engineers
- Promote proactive monitoring, anomaly detection, and root cause identification
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with site leadership to drive alignment across operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering
- Build strong relationships to enhance communication and execution across departments
Process Optimization & Performance
- Establish and manage KPIs to monitor and improve process performance
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, yield, and reliability
Technical Support & Problem Solving
- Provide hands‑on troubleshooting support for complex process issues
- Lead root cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Support plant systems with deep technical expertise in manufacturing processes and utilities
- Review and challenge process changes through a structured Management of Change (MOC) process
- Develop conceptual designs and specify process equipment requirements
- Partner with vendors and contractors to ensure successful and compliant project execution
- Support capital project implementation and transition to operations
Documentation & Standards
- Maintain and improve engineering documentation, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and standards
- Ensure all documentation aligns with internal and regulatory requirements
