Director of Operations (Water/Wastewater)

Responsibilities

• Director of Operations with business-unit responsibilities accountable for the management and construction of projects in alignment with Company values, policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with Project Managers to ensure project teams, subcontractors and suppliers perform as contracted and to track financial performance of projects.
• Implements management systems and practices across assigned projects and contributes to business development and market competitiveness.
• Manage safety, client satisfaction, and financial performance of the business unit; ensure compliance with environmental, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Develops and executes project plans, staffing recommendations, and construction strategies in coordination with Project Directors/Managers and Estimators.
• Oversees project startup, buyout, purchase orders, and subcontractor contracts to ensure timely execution.
• Monitors productivity, project progress, and resource use; provides guidance on significant project events and resolves jurisdictional or labor-relations issues as needed.
• Maintains effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers; represents the company externally as needed.
• Supports growth opportunities and business development efforts; communicates status and client feedback to senior leadership.
• Responsible for staff development, performance management, and building a capable project team within the matrix organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) from a four-year college or university and ten (10) years of experience in managing the construction of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities.
• Previous experience on design-build projects.
• Joint-venture exposure and experience in both union and open-shop environments preferred.
• Travel expected: 50%.
