Director of Operations

Our client is a growing independent renewable energy platform focused on developing, owning and operating utility-scale solar and energy storage assets across the United States. Backed by a leading global infrastructure investor, the company manages a substantial pipeline of projects and a rapidly expanding operating portfolio.

The Role

We are seeking a Director, Renewable Operations to lead the performance, reliability and safe operation of a portfolio of utility-scale solar and battery storage assets.

This senior leadership role will oversee operational strategy, contractor performance, asset optimisation and project transitions, while serving as a key interface with executive leadership, investors and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Provide leadership across a multi-site renewable energy portfolio.
• Report on performance, operational risks and improvement opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and partners.

Safety & Compliance

• Champion a strong safety-first culture.
• Ensure compliance with company, regulatory and industry standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Asset Performance

• Maximise availability, reliability and energy production.
• Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.
• Lead initiatives that improve operational efficiency and asset value.
• Oversee third-party O&M providers and maintenance strategies.
• Establish performance expectations and accountability measures.
• Manage major repairs and corrective maintenance activities.

Project Integration

• Support commissioning, handover and operational readiness activities.
• Lead the transition of new projects into the operating fleet.
• Coordinate closely with construction and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Business or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in renewable energy, power generation or infrastructure operations.
• Direct experience managing utility-scale solar and/or battery storage assets.
• Strong background in O&M oversight and contractor management.
• Experience managing large, geographically dispersed portfolios.
• Familiarity with electricity markets, SCADA systems and performance analytics.
• Proven ability to engage with executive leadership and external stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Utility-scale solar and BESS portfolios.
• Construction-to-operations transitions.
• Renewable asset performance optimisation.
