POSITION OVERVIEW
Biena is seeking a Director of Operations & Supply Chain to lead the day-to-day execution of
our operations function during a period of rapid growth across natural, mass, club, and specialty
channels. Be the person Biena counts on to make our snacks and get them onto retail shelves
across the country, on time, every single time. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations &
R&D, this role owns the operational scoreboard: Sales & Operations Planning, production
execution, quality and food safety, 3PL / warehouse management, and retailer performance.
Biena is scaling fast. Our manufacturing capacity is growing, and our operations team is
expanding to meet our high growth plan. The Director will build the systems and playbooks that
support the next phase of growth, and be as hands-on as needed to close gaps while the team
is still ramping.
LOCATION
Hybrid Role in Waltham, MA (On-site, 3 days per week)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Run the monthly S&OP cycle end to end, driving alignment across demand, supply, and
- Lead weekly planning cadences and ensure timely, actionable output to the leadership team.
- Drive forecast accuracy improvement in partnership with commercial and finance.
- Manage capacity reservation strategy across the production network to support retail commitments and promotional windows.
2. Manufacturing & Production Network Management

- Own the site and supplier onboarding playbook end to end: technical review, food safety qualification, quality manual, PO structure, first article inspection, ramp plan, and standing
- Build and maintain production scorecards with weekly and monthly cadences.
- Support the commercialization of new products from pilot to first production to full rollout.
3. Quality, Food Safety & Regulatory
- Own the quality system in partnership with the Head of R&D and Quality. Drive SQF, PCQI, and HACCP compliance across the production network.
- Lead the CAPA program. Drive on-site root cause analysis, close corrective actions in writing, and prevent recurrence.
- Manage the third-party audit program and remediation.
- Lead FDA visit readiness. Own the recall program and consumer complaint response process.
4. 3PL, Warehouse & Retailer Fulfillment
- Own selection, onboarding, scorecards, and day-to-day management of the 3PL and warehouse network.
- Own retailer scorecards and deduction disputes across our accounts. Drive on-time in-full performance and root-cause fixes on chargebacks.
- Partner with commercial on channel-specific fulfillment requirements and operational commitments.
- Execute cost engineering initiatives across ingredients, packaging, freight, and 3PL to protect and expand gross margin.
- Partner with Finance on inventory management, variance analysis, and operational KPIs.
- Identify structural cost savings and operational risks across the end-to-end supply chain.
6. Systems, SOPs & Team Development
- Own the supply chain systems roadmap. Lead the evaluation and decision on formal ERP, and drive the move from spreadsheet-based reporting to integrated systems.
- Build out and standardize the SOP library across operations.
- Develop the operations team through coaching, mentoring, and structured performance management.
- Model a culture of speed, ownership, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Lead qualification and startup of new production capacity, from initial technical review through first commercial production.
- Partner directly with R&D to move new products from pilot to full production at scale, ensuring supplier readiness, capacity, and documentation are in place.
- Be on-site at production facilities when needed to drive accountability and hands-on problem solving.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of progressive operations leadership in food or beverage CPG, with at least 3 years at the manager or director level leading manufacturing, production, or supply chain operations.
- Direct experience running Sales & Operations Planning or IBP monthly cycles in a
- Deep quality systems background. SQF, PCQI, or HACCP certification required.
- Documented CAPA leadership across multiple production sites.
- Demonstrated 3PL and warehouse network management.
- Familiar with commercializing new products in fast-growth environments.
- Strong command of operational KPIs, financial levers, and ERP/Excel-based analysis.
- Exceptional communication, cross-functional collaboration, and people leadership skills.
- Comfort operating in a lean, entrepreneurial, high-ownership environment.
- ERP implementation, migration, or major systems buildout experience.
- Direct experience qualifying and standing up new production capacity in a growth-stage
- Bachelor's degree required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Better-for-you snack, protein, or plant-based category experience.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Experience building operations infrastructure from spreadsheet-based tools into formal integrated systems.
