The Position

• The Director of Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple service lines within Sunrise Community Living, ensuring effective day-to-day operations and the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services while supporting continued growth and long-term organizational success.
• Reporting to the organization’s founders, this leader will partner closely with executive leadership while providing oversight for approximately 30 FTEs.
• Key responsibilities include strengthening and professionalizing operations across all programs and locations while building the systems, management structure, and accountability needed to support continued growth. This leader will focus on improving organizational and financial performance, developing strong operational leaders, and creating an environment in which day-to-day decisions and challenges are effectively managed without routine involvement from the organization’s founders.
• The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative operational leader who is energized by the opportunity to build, improve, and grow an organization. This individual should bring strong business and financial acumen, sound judgment, and a people-centered leadership approach, with the ability to develop leaders, establish accountability, and create scalable systems while preserving Sunrise Community Living’s collaborative and person-centered culture.
• This role offers significant opportunity for professional growth and advancement as Sunrise Community Living continues to expand, with the position expected to evolve into a Chief Operating Officer role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• A minimum of five years of leadership experience overseeing multi‑site operations, programs, or service lines is required.
• Experience within intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), Home and Community‑Based Services (HCBS), behavioral health, home health, residential services, assisted living, or other Medicaid‑funded programs is highly preferred.

The Organization

• Sunrise Community Living is an Anchorage‑based provider dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through high‑quality, person‑centered services designed to enhance independence, quality of life, and meaningful community participation.
• The organization provides a continuum of residential and community‑based services, including group home habilitation, supported living, day habilitation, supported employment, and respite services.
• Sunrise Community Living operates multiple group homes in the Anchorage area while also providing individualized supports within clients’ homes and community settings, allowing services to be tailored to each individual’s needs, goals and level of independence.
• The organization works closely with individuals, families, guardians, and care coordinators to create supportive environments and opportunities that encourage personal development, meaningful relationships, employment, and greater engagement in the community.
