Job description: Arizona College of Nursing is currently seeking a Director of Nursing Regulatory Affairs to join our team! Candidates must currently reside in the Central, Mountain, or Pacific Time Zone.
Arizona College of Nursing is a rapidly growing nursing school dedicated to preparing students for careers in nursing and improving communities through the care its graduates provide. As a leading nursing educator, the college offers students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s in nursing in 3 years or less with qualified transfer credits, and plans to launch campuses in markets where bachelor’s-prepared nurses are needed.
Responsibilities
- Develop, obtain, and maintain State Board of Nursing approvals in designated states for current and future locations.
- Maintain relationships with boards of nursing and regulatory staff in assigned states.
- Liaise with campus Deans to facilitate Board of Nursing responses to program events, annual reports, and ongoing reapproval/reaccreditation.
- Establish and develop state regulatory agency relationships supporting short- and long-term strategic plans for campus expansion.
- Manage State Board of Nursing approval processes, including subject‑matter expertise for regulatory information, timing of submission, board meeting attendance, and site visit requirements.
- Communicate with board of nursing education consultants to clarify requirements, processes, and procedures.
- Prepare and submit letters of intent, feasibility studies, self‑studies, applications, and associated reports to achieve program approval and meet ongoing regulatory compliance.
- Attend State Board of Nursing meetings and campus site visits in designated states.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise in reviewing education programs and institutional policies for regulatory compliance.
- Advise, guide, and participate in mock internal regulatory assessments and site visits for campus expansion and program approvals.
- Assist the campus Dean of Nursing with Board of Nursing responses, annual reports, reapproval/reaccreditation submissions, and site visit preparation.
- Develop and maintain a monitoring system for ongoing reporting of State Board of Nursing regulatory requirements for existing and future locations in collaboration with the Nursing Regulatory Affairs team.
- Assume temporary oversight for nursing regulatory affairs in the absence of the Senior Director.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (required); Master’s degree in nursing (required); Doctorate in a relevant discipline (strongly preferred).
- Current unencumbered RN license or compact RN license privilege to practice nursing in the Commonwealth or States of responsibility.
- Three to five years of experience as a leader and/or faculty in a Nursing Academic Program or healthcare setting.
- Three to five years of relevant experience working with state Boards of Nursing.
- Expertise in state pre‑licensure nursing program approval processes.
- Experience with assessment and regulatory processes.
- Experience with programmatic accreditation.
- Strong critical‑thinking skills to assess state requirements that may not be explicit.
- Excellent negotiation, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, writing, editing, and computer skills.
- Self‑directed leadership capable of managing strict timelines while delivering quality output.
- Desire to work in a fast‑paced, growing organization with high standards of performance.
