(Full-Time Position)

Prince of Peace Catholic Community is seeking a qualified and passionate Director of Music Ministry to lead and build upon a strong foundation of a vibrant, prayerful, and culturally diverse music program that supports the liturgical life of the parish.

Position Summary

The Director of Music Ministry is responsible for the planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of all aspects of the parish music program in both English and Spanish. This position reports directly to the Director of the Office for Worship.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare music selections for all parish liturgies
  • Recruit, form, and lead volunteer and contract musicians in both English and Spanish
  • Build teams and delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Coordinate and maintain schedules for choirs, cantors, accompanists, and instrumentalists
  • Manage and supervise the music ministry budget
  • Maintain and organize the parish music library and related resources

Successful Candidates Will:

  • Be practicing Catholics in good standing (Safe Environment approved)
  • Demonstrate a deep appreciation for the role of sacred music in worship
  • Exhibit strong pastoral leadership, initiative, and organizational/executive skills
  • Foster and inspire a spirit of prayer, participation, and excellence among music ministers
  • Collaborate effectively with clergy, staff, and the parish worship team
  • Set and implement short- and long-term goals for the music ministry
  • Show creativity and a commitment to ongoing musical, liturgical, and professional development

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in music or a related field preferred; or a bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education, formation, and professional experience will be considered.
  • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Proficiency in piano/organ preferred
  • Experience in vocal pedagogy, choral conducting, and ensemble leadership

Strong Knowledge Of

  • Sacred music and Catholic liturgical tradition
  • Liturgical planning and Catholic sacred music repertoire selection
  • Foundational and primary Church documents on liturgy and sacred music
