For a soon-to-be announced portfolio company, Pioneer Equity Partners is now actively recruiting an entrepreneurial, professional, and personable Director of Membership Development to steward, grow, and elevate the member experience. The company designs and operates confidential and high-trust peer-to-peer forums for accomplished alumni from top-tier business schools. Forums are groups of 8-15 peers that carefully listen and provide input on business, family, and personal challenges and opportunities. Forums operate using a proven agenda and rock-solid confidentiality.
The Director of Membership Development is responsible for strengthening organizational processes and systems and proactively ensuring that members are placed into the right forums. This individual is further responsible for ensuring forums are healthy and high-functioning, forum facilitators are well-supported, and members experience tangible and ongoing value from being part of the broader alumni network beyond their individual forum.
The ideal candidate will combine operational excellence, process improvement, and systems implementation experience along with emotional intelligence and a deep appreciation for peer-to-peer learning and communitybuilding. This role is both strategic and hands-on, with meaningful responsibility for existing member engagement and growing the overall membership.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of the forum model, membership journey, andcommunitystandards
- Serve as the primary steward of membersuccessfrom onboarding through long-term engagement
- Thoughtfully match new members into forums based on background, goals, personality, and life stage
- Monitor forum health and effectiveness, proactively identifying and addressing risks or misalignment
- Support forum facilitators with tools, best practices, feedback loops, and ongoing training
- Act as a trusted point of contact for members, addressing concerns with professionalism, discretion, and empathy
- Drive high member retention by ensuring consistent value delivery and timely intervention when issues arise
- Build systems, playbooks, and feedback mechanisms to improve forum quality and scalability
- Collaborate with leadership to refine forum formats (in-person vs. virtual, size, focus areas) as the organization grows
- Identify opportunities to increase cross-forum and network-wide value (events, introductions, content, partnerships)
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold the integrity and trust of the forum environment at all times
Qualifications
- High sense of ownership, urgency, integrity, discretion, and follow-through
- College degree with high GPA and demonstrated leadership involvement
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience incommunitymanagement, clientsuccess, operations, coaching, or relationship-driven roles
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly with senior-level professionals
- Strong judgment and emotional intelligence when navigating sensitive personal or professional situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple forums, facilitators, and member relationships simultaneously
- Comfort operating in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment with evolving systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Passion for helping others grow through structured peer relationships andcommunity
- Ability to work in a global context and understand and appreciate different cultures
Preferred (Some Combination Of)
- Experience with peer forums, executive groups, alumni organizations, or membership-based communities
- Background in coaching, facilitation, leadership development, or adult learning environments
- Experience working with high-performing executives, entrepreneurs, or alumni networks
- Exposure to organizations such as YPO, EO, Vistage, alumni clubs, or similar peer-group models
- Demonstrated ability to improve retention, engagement, or satisfaction in a subscription or membership business
