Description

Medical Staff Director oversees the credentialing, privileging, and compliance of a hospital's clinical providers. They manage medical staff office operations and ensure physicians meet regulatory, state, and accreditation guidelines. Verify clinical backgrounds, licenses, and certifications to grant clinical privileges, ensure staff adhere to the Joint Commission (TJC) standards and centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, supervise the medical staff services team and support physician leaders in peer review and governance, develop and enforce bylaws, policies, and procedures related to medical staff conduct.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field

3-5 years of hospital credentialing and leadership experience previous survey experience required

Preferred certifications include Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Manager (CPMSM) through national Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS)
