The Director of Operations and Maintenance will drive operational excellence through data-driven decision-making, process discipline, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance strategy across mobile and fixed plant equipment, including budgeting, resource planning, vendor management, and capital planning.
- Collaborate with regional operations and engineering teams to align maintenance best practices with production goals and equipment lifecycle management.
- Build, train, and mentor a high-performing team of operations managers, maintenance managers, supervisors, and mechanics across multiple locations.
- Ensure maintenance facilities are properly staffed, equipped, and meet company standards, emphasizing skills development and technical training.
- Develop and maintain KPIs and reporting systems to monitor reliability, cost, downtime, and preventive maintenance compliance.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through vendor negotiations, warranty recovery, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration to minimize unplanned downtime and optimize asset performance.
- Ensure strict compliance with Royal White Cement, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
- Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives and participate in companywide maintenance councils or forums.
- Meet or exceed company safety and operational standards.
- Respond to emergency situations and work beyond normal business hours as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of progressive operations and maintenance leadership experience in distribution, construction materials, or heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of terminal and warehouse operation and maintenance, safety compliance, and performance management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with maintenance programs.
- Expertise in fixed plant equipment, mobile fleet management, and industrial maintenance operations.
- Knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety and industry standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Analytical ability to interpret complex data and drive strategic decisions that optimize performance.
Working Conditions
- Up to 50% travel required.
- May require extended hours and weekend work as needed.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures and noise.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
- Must be capable of performing all job-related physical functions, including operating equipment controls.
